Friday, November 17

Wine, Cheese, and Tax Reform Discussion***

        • 4:00 – 6:00 pm
          Alumni Center, 86 Wentworth Street

          Tax reform – what’s the big deal and why should I care? While enactment of tax reform legislation is by no means certain, the odds for tax reform appear to be more favorable than they have been at any other time since the Tax Reform Act of 1986. Join Brett Bluestein ’97 for wine, charcuterie, and a robust discussion on the prospects of tax reform in 2017.

          • Early Bird: $10 per adult (21 and over), until October 25;
          • Regular Price: $15 per Adult (21 and over) starting October 26; tickets will not be sold at the door.

Alumni Welcome Center at Towell Library Open House

        • 5:00 – 7:00 pm
          Cistern Yard

          Stop by to celebrate our grand opening! The Office of Alumni Affairs and the Alumni Association have been relocated to one of the most historic buildings on campus in the heart of Cistern Yard. Designed by architect George Walker and completed in 1856, this structure housed the College library until 1975. It is named for alumnus, former chemistry professor, dean, and acting president Edward Emerson Towell ’34. The Alumni Welcome Center will offer alumni and their families a place to call home when visiting campus. Free event, but reservations are requested.

School of the Arts Production of Realign*, ***

        • 7:30 – 9:30 pm
          Emmett Robinson Theatre, 172 Calhoun Street

          This dance concert explores the theme of sustainability through expression and empowerment. With choreography by faculty and guest artists, the concert will present works that reference both historical authenticity and necessary shifts in our thinking and doing for a more sustainable community.

 

Saturday, November 18

Lowcountry Alumni Oyster Roast ***

        • Noon – 3:00 pm
          Cistern Yard

          What better way to kick off the holidays than with oysters, chili, hot dogs, craft beer, and live music?

          • Early Bird: $50 per Adult (21 and over), $25 per student (ages 7-20), free for children ages 6 and under, until October 25;
          • Regular Price: $75 per Adult (21 and over), $40 per student (ages 7-20) starting October 26, free for children ages 6 and under; tickets will not be sold at the door.

Alumni Awards Reception and Gala***

        • 6:00 – 10:00 pm
          Charleston Marriott, 170 Lockwood Boulevard

          Each year, the Alumni Awards Gala recognizes alumni whose accomplishments in their chosen fields have brought honor to the College, showcasing the role the College has played in their lives as well as the impact they have had on society. Tickets include a cocktail reception and gourmet dinner. Proceeds will benefit the Alumni Association’s programs and scholarships. Purchase Tickets today!

          • Early Bird: $150 per person, $1,500 per 10-person table until October 25;
          • Regular Price: $175 per person, $1,750 per 10-person table starting October 26.
